billboards, burning bushes, and books

Sometimes God's lessons can be like a slap in the face.  My friend Janah and I definitely got one of those today.  Both of us pretty much sit at our desks at work and facebook chat each other all day.  Not joking.  During our work day yesterday, we were reflecting on how we still find ourselves forming trust issues with God.  We both become anxious with our unknown future paths and would much prefer God's will for our lives to be written plainly on billboards.  We also reflected on the fact that we have absolutely no reason to not trust God completely--He's always been faithful.

Some time passed and I decided to read the next chapter in The Good and Beautiful God.  Conveniently, the next chapter was titled "God is Trustworthy."  The reflection question for me to consider was, "How would you describe your trust level when it comes to God?  Have things happened to you that made you doubt that God is trustworthy?"  Minutes later, Janah wrote back and said she'd been thinking about our previous conversation, and God had put the story of Moses and the burning bush on her heart and all the signs and trusting that was involved.

Needless to say, I think we learned our lesson.  God will reveal to us his perfect plan at the right time, and we have no need to worry.

1 Corinthians 1:9
"God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

  1. I love this. I also love how God puts us in our place sometimes. He's so good.
